Deleting your data
How to disconnect TikTok, delete posts or delete your whole postyay account: what we delete, what we keep and for how long, and how to reach us.
The short version
You can delete your postyay account, and everything in it, yourself at any time: Settings → Danger zone → Delete account. It takes effect right away.
If you can’t sign in, write to [email protected] from the e-mail address you signed in with, and we’ll delete your account within 30 days.
Disconnect a TikTok account
You don’t need to delete your account to cut postyay off from TikTok:
- In postyay: go to Accounts and choose Disconnect on the account. We ask TikTok to revoke our access and erase the tokens we stored, straight away. Posts scheduled for that account won’t go out.
- In TikTok: open Settings and privacy → Security & permissions → Apps and services permissions, choose postyay and remove its access. Menu names can vary by app version.
Either way, postyay can no longer post to that TikTok account or read anything from it.
Delete a single post
Deleting a post in postyay cancels it if it hasn’t gone out yet, and removes it from your calendar and lists. The deleted post’s record is erased for good when you delete your account.
Deleting a post in postyay doesn’t remove a post that’s already live on TikTok. Delete that one in the TikTok app.
Delete your account
- Sign in and open Settings. If you want a copy of your data first, choose Download my data under “Your data”.
- Under “Danger zone”, choose Delete account and type your e-mail address to confirm.
- We delete everything listed below right away, sign you out and send you a confirmation e-mail. If one of your posts is being published at that very moment, wait a minute and try again.
Can’t sign in? E-mail [email protected] from the address you signed in with (subject: “Delete my account”). We ask you to write from that address so we know the request really comes from you; if you can’t, we may ask you to confirm it another way. We delete the account within 30 days and confirm by e-mail.
What we delete
- your profile: e-mail address, name, language and onboarding answer;
- all your sessions, so you’re signed out everywhere;
- your workspace, with its posts, schedules and delivery timelines; anything queued to publish is stopped;
- every connected account: we ask TikTok to revoke our access, and delete the encrypted tokens and profile details we stored;
- all the media you uploaded, including the files on our servers;
- your support conversations and our internal notes about you;
- your notification settings and the record of notices we sent you;
- your subscription: we cancel it at Stripe first, so you’re never charged again, then delete its record.
What we keep, and for how long
A few records stay for a limited time, because the law requires it or to keep the Service secure:
- Billing records (invoices and payments): kept by Stripe, and by us where required, for as long as tax and accounting laws require (up to 10 years).
- Posts you wrote in a workspace someone else owns stay in that workspace for its owner, with your name removed from them.
- Usage history in our database (for example, “post scheduled”): the link to you and your workspace is removed, so it can no longer be tied to you.
- Records of staff access and admin actions: kept for security and accountability, with the link to your account removed. The record that your account was deleted holds only a one-way reference, not your e-mail address or ID.
- Database backups: copies of deleted data age out of our daily backups within 60 days.
- Product analytics events: contain IDs but no name, e-mail address or content, and expire after 180 days at most.
- Server logs: expire after 30 days at most.
When these periods end, the data is deleted or fully anonymized.
Posts already on TikTok
Deleting your postyay account doesn’t delete posts that are already published on TikTok: they belong to your TikTok account. Delete them in TikTok, and see the TikTok Privacy Policy for the data TikTok holds.
